Gifts for Sudan The people of Sudan are suffering. Now in its fourth year, the conflict in Darfur drags on with no end in sight. Already as many as 300,000 have died, and several million have been driven from their homes. Meanwhile, even though the North/South civil war came to an end two years ago, the people of southern Sudan have little to show for it. Education, transportation, medication, vocational training, clean water—and increasingly, hope—all are in short supply. The New Community Project offers an opportunity to take action on both these fronts, combining peace advocacy with the chance to make a tangible contribution to the well-being of the Sudanese people.
