Partner Community Program

A New Community Project program of building relationships between US congregations and international partner communities

Meet NCP's partner communities in Guatemala, Sudan, Nepal, Arctic Village, the Ecuadorian Amazon, and El Salvador here... 

The purposes of NCP's Partner Community program are:

• To build ties of friendship and solidarity between U.S. Christian groups and groups in areas of the world where NCP has partner relationships
• To give opportunity for mutual encouragement, spiritual growth and material sharing
• To bring new understandings of the world and our neighbors
• To work together to build a more peaceful, just, and environmentally sustainable world

The US congregation will:

• Learn about the partner area-its history and culture and its social, political and religious dynamics
• Seek to build relationships with communities in the partner area
• Send and receive visitors to and from the partner area as feasible
• Support projects in the partner area as possible
• Share spiritual and personal gifts with the partner community, while seeking out gifts and abilities that people or communities in the partner area have to share with the US group
• Be an advocate for the partner area, including but not limited to
  • finding ways to inform the surrounding community about the culture and conditions of the partner area
  • joining in political advocacy for a more just and peaceful world, including in relation to issues directly affecting the partner area
  • engaging in projects to support human development and/or environmental care in the partner area
• Make an initial three-year commitment to the Partner Community program

The New Community Project will:

• Provide areas for potential partnership relations (currently these include Nepal, Sudan, Guatemala, the Ecuadorian Amazon, Burma (Myanmar), and the Arctic [the Gwich'in people of northern Alaska])
• Provide an initial introduction of the chosen partnership area
• Facilitate opportunities to visit the partner area
• Provide options for material sharing with the partner area
• Assist in enabling communication between the partners
